Besides the high end European supercars that grace the streets of Beijing there is also an economy class. I missed the snap on a smoky grey Lamorghini Aventador sporting a driver with black stretch pants covered in giant white stars and a passenger with matching star covered t shirt and baseball cap. I’ll be ready for the next one.

A guy pulls up in a three wheel bicycle with seat in back and a top fringed in red, where you going? A common tourist transpo, and can be fantastic photos. In places like Houhai Park these trikes cluster together and wait for their customers. They nap, gossip, read, eat, smoke and create all sorts of poses. They are always in the shade which is not my favorite light, but that’s the way it is. Walking by both ways lets you pick the best perspective and let them see you want to take a photo and maybe even a chance to start a conversation about photographing them as a subject.

A recent trend is battery power. An army of Ayis (housekeepers) zipping down the bike lanes dressed to keep out the sun or cold. Wonderful images! Only trouble is that they are moving fast. These images are on our “to-do” list. Any suggestions are welcome.

Parked, these vehicles are more easily photographed. We are constantly amazed at the creative designs and adaptations to make these things work.
